Our very first volunteer Johanna Linder started her own project after working for us during the summer 2007, you may have read about it here before.
We are happy to update you that it’s still a successful project.
2011:
As Kenyan School Opened in January All the Kids are expected to be in school. Children at TIP TOP is amonst the children expected at the School. We at Friends Pioneer are also supporting Lunch, School fees and Uniform to children and student in our Project. We have also had volunteers From Vittragymnasiet in Goteborg coming with cloths and used phones to support the nyalenda community and Friends Pioneer.
As a treasurer of INUG Stockholm I have had the privilege to be part of the IT-café container project by facilitating a loan to start up the project. The organization I represent, INUG Stockholm, which is a member of Engineers Without Borders International, provided in the beginning of 2009 a loan of KSH 100 000 to Friends Pioneer for this purpose. The loan has now been fully repaid together with the agreed interest rate for the period. From INUG Stockholm we are very happy with this project that we believe has been a success in many ways. First of all we are pleased to see a project that has come all the way from planning to implementation. We now believe that this project has provided a new type of service where it was previously not present, and thus enhanced the possibilities for a local regional community. It has also developed a new income source for Friends Pioneer that hopefully can be reinvested to further develop the local community.
Following the visit to Sweden we did last fall, many have become aware of us and we have many visits planned. The first couple have already been here and gone back home! It was Nathan and Hanna from Vittra gymnasium that came for a visit. We soon will receive a visit from Valla folkhogskola, that visited some projects in Tanzania before Kenya. This Saturday (22/1) 15 pupils and teachers from the Red Cross School in Stockholm arrives to Nairobi, and then travels on to Kisumu. Some will stay at our guest house and all will work with organizations in Kisumu. All visitors from Sweden brings second hand, all together more than 70 kg! We have more collected cloth, laptops and so on in Sweden that volunteers will bring down when they come. A great way of cheap frieght!
As we come to the end of another year we would like to extend our thanks for your support throughout the year 2010.
We have welcomed many new sponsors in the latter part of the year which is great news for the children in need of support.
2010 has been quite a varied year for Friends Pioneer but we finish on a high note with more sponsors and more ideas and more work hopeful 2011. Sports for education will be very successful for 2011, as well as the community work we do in schools on education brings in income to maintain and sustain the Projects as well as carrying on with the continuation of the Projects.
We hope you enjoy receiving and reading our Certificate of Appreciations with updates about the work in Kenya. If you did not receive them and would like to, please let us know so I can add you and send you one.
We hope to create a database for newsletter for 2011 for up dates that we would send in our partner’s emails
A very big thank you to all those sponsors who have helped us in our Project but mostly to
10. Leif Lindblad
We also thank organization Like
The G – 10 Persons have really worked closely with Friends Pioneer in 2010 and are seeing that it works well.
Sponsors are very important to us as the child sponsorship program is a vital part of our work and really does make a difference in a child’s life. We do believe that an education leads to a better life for the sponsored child as a means of lifting the child out of poverty and bringing about eventual self sufficiency. We are unique where an individual child funds go directly to supporting general fund for the community and budgeting for all the children in our projects.
Next Year Friends Pioneer will have field staff which will be collecting letters and school reports which will be forwarded to Friends Pioneer Sponsors.
FRIENDS PIONEER FAMILY IN SWEDEN AND IN KENYA Wish you a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year
Friends Pioneer is now working on expanding TIP TOP Community School. We are planning to build 2 more classrooms that we hope will be supported by VOLVO VUH 2011 to 2012 Funding. This will help us to develop and become more self relient. We will be supporting more children and at the same time take pupils that can afford to pay to help us meet our demands.

We at Friends Pioneer are now Going to the Children who cant come to us. If they cant come to us We go to them. Sport is the most uniting programme that we are using to meet the children and do our Programmes.
“….Life starts with Education..” Sven Tumba. I agree with this saying. education is the most fundamental right of a child that most developing countries don’t give to its citizens. Today I was speaking to some children in the street and they had a logics about kenyan system of Education. They told me ” … We are ready to go to school but we need not to be beaten in school, We need not to go to formal system we need freedom. We at Friends Pioneer have chose To reach these children we have chosen sport as the medium. Sport gives us the chance to meet children on common ground, regardless of our age, gender, social and economic differences. If these children cannot come to us, then we must go to them. This is an idea of sven Tumba and it is a working Idea that could be implemented all over the world.
