In 2007 we started to plan an internet café in the busy junction Kilo in the slum area Nyalenda in Kisumu. Already 2007 we recievd the first donated laptope, in 2008 we bought a container for the purpose. Now 2009 the intenet café is up and running. Our computers are donated from companies in sweden and brought down to us by visiters/volonteers coming to Kisumu. We still need more laptops. The idea is to expand the internet café and also have programs for teahcers and students in the poor aareas to learn how to used them. With the donations the poor people also have access to internet and knowledge!

You can Google yourself out of poverty and this is why an Internet café in the slums is ideal.
Friends Pioneer will start an Internet café using a container on the border to Nyalenda slums at Keelo Junction, an important meeting point. Today there is no internet café in the slums. Instead you have to travel to the city to use internet, which is common but expensive. Not having to travel will save precious money and time. Student will even use the computer just paying a minimum cost for maintenance.
Internet is an effective media for self teaching. By increasing your knowledge and references to the world around, it is possible to find ways out of poverty. In fact, many schools today use internet as a tool to reach more students with good educational material. We already provide classes with computer programs, with assistance from University students and volunteers.
Also by making contact with other people in the world, we get connected and may share culture and learn from each other. That is how Joseph managed to get so many contacts in Sweden!
